- On average women and children in the developing world spend 4 hours each day collecting water.
- There are 663 million people currently living without access to clean water.
- Nearly 1,000 Children under age 5 die every day from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation and improper hygiene.
- The lack of clean water and sanitation causes 80% of all sickness and disease in the developing world - affecting more people than war, AID's and famine combined.
Just as important as it is to protect our communities here in the Puget Sound from contaminated water, it is equally important to help protect drinking water for communities around the world.
